Daphne Steele is aware personally how difficult it may be to eat healthily when one is always on the run. She battled to find quick, delicious food free of added sugars as a marketing professional under pressure from deadlines.
“I was bored with feeling slow from all the hidden sugars in my diet,” Daphne says. “I felt a change was needed.”
Her no-added-sugar menus are meant for working professionals. Daphne promises breakfast to be chia seeds, unsweetened almond milk overnight oats with a handful of fresh fruit. “It’s easy to make the evening before and grab on my way out,” she explains.
Like a quinoa and veggie bowl topped with grilled chicken and a homemade lemon vinaigrette, lunches are sometimes basic but nutritious. Dinners can call for a mix of bell peppers and mushrooms and stir-fried shrimp topped with zucchini noodles.
Daphne looks to nature’s candy—fresh fruits—to fulfil her sweet taste. She loves frozen grapes and apple slices topped with almond butter especially. “You would be surprised how your taste receptors change when you cut out extra sugars,” she says.
Her best trick is batch cooking. Daphne cooks lean proteins, roasted vegetables, and lots of brown rice on Sundays. “Having food on hand for busy workweek is a lifesaver,” she says.
Her no-added-sugar way of living speaks for itself. Daphne says she has better concentration, clearer skin, and steady energy all through the day. Starting small is her advise for others: “Even just eliminating out sugary drinks can make a significant difference. Once you start to see the advantages, it drives you on.
