Aging gracefully is about choosing a lifestyle deliberately, not only about genes. Yoga teacher and wellness coach Layla James offers her doable advice for being youthful and healthy as the years pass.
1. Remain active:
Layla argues, “movement is medicine.” She advises including flexibility workouts as well as muscle building into your program. She notes, “Yoga is my favorite since it combines physical and mental wellness.”
2. Eat to nourish your body.
Key is eating foods high in nutrients. Salmon with leafy greens and quinoa on the side are Layla’s regular dinner fare. She counsels “avoid anything overly processed and focus on whole foods.”
3. Get regular hydration:
“Don’t undervalue the need of water,” Layla warns. She drinks a glass of water mixed with lemon first thing in the morning to start digestion and maintain bright skin.
4. Prioritize sleep:
For Layla, there is no negotiable quality sleep. “Your body fixes itself while you sleep,” she says. She advises keeping up a regular nighttime schedule and avoiding devices right before bed.
5. Develop awareness.
Layla says, “A good attitude can work miracles for your health.” She keeps grounded and controls tension with daily meditation and journaling.
Aging gracefully for Layla is about accepting life totally. She advises, “It’s about thriving in the moment,” not about reversing the clock.
