Emma White beams as she adds, “Going dairy-free was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.” For Emma, the change was about feeling lighter and more energised rather than only improved digestion.
Emma began her path by looking at dairy-free substitutes for her beloved dishes. For her, almond milk and coconut yoghurt were revolutionary. “Now, without the heaviness, I can still appreciate cereal, smoothies, and even creamy desserts.”
She became inventive in the kitchen as well. “A life saver is cashew cream. I make soups, pasta sauces, even dips out of it. It tastes great and is really flexible. Emma also keeps nutritional yeast for a cheesy taste in food and plant-based cheeses.
Emma informs me that although changing to a dairy-free diet can seem difficult, the work is well worth it. Start small, she counsels. “Replace milk in your coffee or tea with a plant-based option, and gently try several until you find what works for you.”
Apart from changing her diet, Emma has observed better energy levels and skin. “It’s amazing how much difference it makes when you’re not bogged down in foods your body struggles to digest,” she says.
Living dairy-free for Emma is a lifestyle that has improved her health rather than only a diet.
