Tessa hesitated once a friend advised following a plant-based diet. “I wasn’t sure I could give up everything at once,” she notes. She followed a slow path instead of going all in over night. She started substituting oat milk for dairy, traded processed snacks for fresh fruit, and concentrated on meals high in natural enzymes and fibre.
She also observed more closely her body’s reaction. Lentils made her feel light and full; fermented foods like sauerkraut seemed to ease her bloating. The modifications accumulated gradually.
“I realised digestion is more than what you eat; it’s also how and when you eat,” she says. Tessa began chewing carefully, eating more deliberately, and savouring meals rather than running through them.
Her symptoms started to clear within weeks. She felt lighter on the inside as much as physically. “Listening to your body and actually reacting to it has something empowering about it,” she says.
Now totally vegan, Tessa not only finds relief but also a fresh sense of control over her well-being. “Going plant-based was not limited,” she remarks. “It came out as a release.”
