Sky Monroe’s Vegan Snacks for Heart Health

Sky Monroe didn’t grow up with plant-based eating. In fact, she describes her younger self as a “drive-thru regular” with a weakness for cheese fries and sweet lattes. But after her father experienced a heart attack in his 50s, everything shifted.

“I saw how quickly things could change,” she says. “And I didn’t want to wait for a warning sign to take my health seriously.” EILISON FIRMHOLD Handle Vibration Plate Exercise Machine for Lymphatic Drainage- Full Body Vibration Platform for Weight Loss

She started by cutting out red meat and dairy—then slowly transitioned into a fully vegan lifestyle. But Sky quickly realized that while her meals were getting healthier, her snacking habits hadn’t caught up. “I was still reaching for chips and sugary granola bars,” she admits.

So she made a decision: if she wanted to protect her heart, her snacks had to work for her—not against her.

She began preparing her own snacks at home with heart-friendly ingredients like oats, flaxseed, almonds, and dark berries. “I wasn’t trying to make everything taste like a dessert,” she explains. “I just wanted fuel that felt good after eating it.”

Over time, her body adjusted—and so did her taste buds. She no longer craved the sugar highs of processed foods. Instead, a few slices of apple with almond butter or a handful of roasted chickpeas left her feeling satisfied and stable.

“Snacking became part of my heart health routine, not something to feel guilty about,” Sky says.

She now shares snack ideas and easy recipes on her blog, reminding others that small daily choices add up. “You don’t need to overhaul your whole life overnight,” she says. “Just start with the snack in your hand.”
