Leona’s Easy Gluten-Free Snacks for On-the-Go Days

Leona laughs and says, “I’m always running from one meeting to the next.” “I find myself grabbing the closest bag of chips if I am not ready with snacks.”

She began experimenting with basic, gluten-free food choices that are handy to pack and good enough to satisfy her in order to escape that trap.

Her main selection is rice cakes topped with banana slices and almond butter. Leona notes that it has the ideal crunch, is sweet and filling. Naturally gluten-free, rice cakes are made from rice; almond butter offers good proteins and lipids. Without too much sugar, the bananas provide a trace of sweetness.

Greek yogurt parfaits kept in tiny, sealable jars are another winning snack. Leona layers gluten-free grains and yogurt topped with juicy berries.

The jars are portable, she says, and they prevent everything from turning into a mushy mess. She advises using a dairy-free yogurt substitute produced from coconut or almond milk if you are lactose intolerant.

Leona reaches for hummus with carrot sticks or cucumber slices when she is yearning something savory. “Hummus is my go-to dip; it’s full of protein and fiber,” she explains. The secret is to create your own at home by combining chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, and garlic or choose a brand marked gluten-free.

Leona also points out how handy gluten-free protein bars are, particularly for travel. She says, “I always have a couple in my luggage. “It’s better than negotiating a drive-through.” She does, however, advise reading labels to be sure they are really gluten-free and free of too many artificial additives or too much sugar.

Leona says for a sweet treat energy bites made from oats, nut butter, honey, and add-ins like shredded coconut or dark chocolate chips. She advises “just mix everything in a bowl, roll them into little balls, and store them in the refrigerator.” Although many oats are inherently gluten-free, she encourages everyone to seek labels certifying their oats to prevent cross-contamination.

Leona thinks that good snacking depends on ahead of time planning. She argues that she is less inclined to grab something bad when she has these selections ready to go. These simple gluten-free snacks can keep you fed and concentrated all day whether your schedule calls for running errands, attending meetings, or travel.
